Exclamation Help me I.D. this part I pulled from a AW4 (Pic inside)

So my input shaft seal/front pump seal started leaking trans fluid all over the place. Its a 94 XJ with 4.0 with AW4 AT. I decided to pull the trans myself and change the $9 seal myself. While pulling the old seal I damaged this matel ring that sit behind the seal. WHat is the correct name or part # so I can order a new one. These part sit behind the torque coverter and in front of the transmission front pump in the bell housing.

No, that's a bushing. You can tell by the "break" in the ring - a "sleeve & seal" is always seamless. It also has to be heat-expanded for installation, and would have to be machined off (you're not getting that thing back off with hand tools!)

Which end of the transmission were you working on? Front? Should be an Input Shaft Support Bushing (or something along those lines.) Any shaft, in order to run true, needs to be supported at two points - and those supports are not always bearings (don't always have the room for them.) Bushings tend to wear a bit faster than bearings, because they don't reduce friction as much.

Take it in with you - the dealership should be able to dig it up by location and image, as should any competent transmission shop.

Yeah it's the front pump bushing. The two dealership could find a listing for it cause it's aisin waner part. Go figure. Found it at local transmission shop. They told me the whole pump has to come out to install bushing correctly. Is this true.

I was working on it from the front with the pump still installed in the bell housing.
