A 2" BB is ok. I like mine. Just make sure your rear spring packs are in good shape. I did the lift and then had to put in new packs to level it out but then my 87 is about 6 years older than yours

I wanted a 2" and also wanted new shocks. I'm sure the shocks that were on it when I got it were stock 21 year old junk.
I'm sure everyone has there favorites. Thats what I have and it works. I went with the recomondation of the shop I had install it. I wasn't up for the install at the time and it needed to be alined at the shop after install anyway.
Good luck with what ever way you go!!!!

My personal favorite 2" setup: (if your rear leaf springs are shot)
Two of these:

and two of these:

I did your homework
That'll be...(clicking keys on calculator)...$27.59 in labor. I have paypal.
I would take a shackle lift over an AAL kit because you can re-use the shackles in the future. The AAL stiffens the ride and would suck putting it in a new leaf pack if you get some in the future.

Mine's not a kit, I pieced it together. Rusty's 3" springs, 1" spacer, Old man emu 2" leaf springs, Old man emu 1.5" AAL, 2" rough country adjustable shackles. Old man emu Shocks, JKS trackbar, YJ brake lines, sye/front shaft, Rough country drop brackets, shock BPE extenders.
4.5" front/5" rear.
4.5" front/5" rear.
