HELP!!! I'm locked out of my Jeep!
I did this at 10,000 feet at a trailhead with no cell service and all my stuff inside. Luckily another guy's car broke down and he had someone called a tow truck!! Ran over, paid him his unlock fee and he feed a slim-jim through the door and got me out of a bind.

This is why I recently put a set of keys taped up inside the wiper cowling.
I leave a few of the screws out anyway, and so if I ever lock my keys out (again) - I can just use a philips head screwdriver (which is easy to come by in most environments, or have one on your keychain) to take off like 3 screws, and take the wiper arms off (flathead helps with that, so a multitool is best).
On most of these Jeeps it takes all of 30 seconds to slim-jim, too...

I just came across this.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned unbolting the back hatch striker.
Take off two nuts and lift the hatch with the striker still in catch.
Feasibility of this may depend on your bumper configuration.

Another idea which made total sense, but the automakers wanted everything to be easy the autolock systems. On a lot of foreign cars, you could lock all the other doors from the driver's armrest, but you had to lock the drivers door with the key from outside. Lock the drivers door with the key. That way you always have the key with you. Do this or don't lock your car.

One night we locked the keys in my buddy's jeep while out wheeling. Alcohol led to that happening, which also led to getting back into the vehicle in about 30 seconds by throwing a rock through the window.
Some of the replies here are hilarious.
On the hatch, pull off the bottom left marker plate plastic mount and peek through the hole, just to the right and you'll see the hatch release rod.
Use a small screwdriver and pry up on the rod.
Pop. the hatch is open
You can see the marker plate plastic mount in this pic thanks to JSwamper

That sounds even better if you have a late model (steel hatch).
