Help with identifying hose
So I went up with a couple friends to Cleveland national forest the other day and did some four wheeling. Me being paranoid about random things breaking, I opened up my hood today to take a look to make sure there was no damage. I discovered I needed to change my coolant, it was time for an oil change and I discovered THIS. I have no idea what this is called but judging from the fact that it's completely split open, I'd say it's time for a new one. Anyone know what hose this is? Any help would be much appreciated so that I can head on down to nappa or autozone and see if I can get a new one. Thanks in advance guys.

So you guys are thinking it's nothing to really be concerned about? I mean, it still starts up and runs fine. It just started making this weird ticking noise on the way home last night and when I saw this today, I wondered if it might have something to do with it.

It was the antique EGR system. You rember when the round breather on car had that same hose running off the exhaust manifold? It supposed to warm the air going into a cold motor. I assume anyway. Like posted earlier most vehicles outhere that had one has long been without it

Some places that require emissions crap may give you a hard time without it. Most places aren't douchebags about it though and let you move on. If you are really worried about it clean it off and put some aluminum tape on it.

take it off, it serves no helpful purpose. Perhaps warming the engine up sooner, but what it does do at operating temp it feds the engine hot air all the time, not good if you want better gas mileage, and or power.

I speak truths.
99.99% of Jeeps I have seen or worked on they have been removed, and if you think of the logic of it, its truly useless. I understand how it may help in Canada, and colder areas. (average winter temps in the teens)
