Welcome,a couple of problems cdould be either the float in the tank has a hole in it and will not rise with the fuel level, there maybe a problem with the sending unit in the tank electrically,or the guage itself is bad.

i would say it is the sending unit on top of the fuel pump cause mine went bad and i just replaced the whole thing.

If you change the sending unit, make sure it's not wired backwards! My buddy brought his Cherokee to a shop to change his sending unit and he got it back and was like "Wow, they filled it up!" . But he ran out of gas a mile later because they wired it backwards so full was empty and empty was full.

Yea, he also forgot to tell the person who bought it from him that it was wired backwards and they called him later that week complaining.

check your ground wire going into the sending unit on the front of the tank.
i've had issues with mine, all i did was cut and strip the broken wire and heat shrink it back together again. works good now.

Do you have to drop the tank to do this?

I just bought a 94 Grand Cherokee and the fuel guage dont work at all. I filled the tank and still empty and low fuel light is on also. All the other guages work fine. What should I do or where do I start?
