i think this is the part. omix-ada 17218.05 hope it is. just wondering how come the interchangeable part with crown did not fit in mine. cause i ordered crown before. attached is the pic of the old and the part that i think is the same part. i would like to thank you guys for the help especially to ralph77
Well I would feel better if I actually helped. LOL.
But you are welcome
Putting in a '95 Cherokee on Amazon for the 17218.05 came up as fitting.
Fingers crossed.
Says warning light one. What do you have anyway?
But what really caught my attention is the reference number.
56026710. Isn't that is one of the numbers you said you tried.
actually that is why im confused also, interchangeable and yet the parts look different, also came across the link you gave, diffrent parts with the same parts number. maybe wrong postig of the actual part? think i need to ask for the actual picture from the seller and hope for the best. this is my observations.
Where they do list a Cherokee.
So here is what I want you to try. At the last link above click on Change Vehicle. Then click on Add New Vehicle. Put in you VIN and see what happnes.
hi ralph77, after i put the vin, it says it fits, the only prob is there are two pins and the one before it only has one. so do you think i just buy a connector and change the cpnnector also?

There is only pin? I saw it in the picture but figured one broke and that was what is causing all this trouble.
The thought of changing out the connector did come to me too. Cause when poking around on the Napa site I came across this:
So I was able to determine one thing. At least I think so. I found a write up for swapping out an idiot light cluster for a gauge one. It is just the sensor at the rear of the engine that makes a difference between idiot light and gauge. So we are dealing with the one in thermostat housing and explains why when looking up the parts we are not being asked idiot light or gauge for it. Doesn't help us but ends some confusion I was having.
Can you access this one? Similar deal here. Pigtail and sensor. Supposedly for your Jeep. Can't tell if it is 2 prong though. All the rest they show for your Jeep are.
Oh great now I am at a loss myself here. I picked up one from RockAuto...and it looks very similar to the original picture. But it is actually called a temperature sender/sensor. I went to replace it and the connector(on the sensor) crumbled in my fingers so all I had left was a lead sticking out...I then checked the jeep and it had no effect except my gauge read 0 for the temperature. I couldn't get the old one out so I just stuck the connector back on the lead sticking out and the gauge started working again. I just don't have the right wrench and I am not gonna strip it. Pain in the butt at the end of the valve cover dug in there like a tic. Now I am kinda glad I did not remove it yet. BTW I have a 96 4.0 HO engine in a 94 chassis. After reading all this I was quite confident I had the right part but now I am a little sketchy on that. Mine of course is single prong looks like #3 in the criminal lineup. I think I will go back and check some links. Interesting stuff here...
I am going through the gauge swap myself with a 95 xj. The cluster swap went very smoothly. I bought a new oil pressure sensor (variable rather than switch) and a new temperature sensor. Of course the new sensor was the front one. I believe that this is the correct rear one: Mopar 5602 7012 .
Anyway, my oil pressure sender seems to be acting like a switch as the pressure is pegged on the gauge. Both sensors are single lead. Will these still work for the gauges?
Loving the tach and trip odometer, though.
