I just changed the a/c compressor/ clutch on my Cherokee 99 and I'm running into a problem.

1.) If i tighten the nut that sits in the very front of the clutch the way it was before its too tight and pulley does not travel freeley (turns compressor with it)
2.) When I loosen the same nut to a point where pulleys spins freely then clutch eather does not engage or slips.

When i was installing new clutch on the compressor I made sure that clutch and pulley sat all the way where they suppose to be. Not sure what else to do.

Also, if you have a good/new a/c compressor and clutch how easy is it to turn compressor with the clutch plate? Mine moves but its not an easy twist and you get couple revs out of it, instead its pretty much however far you moved it with your hand it stops there - is that normal? My belt sqeals like crazy when I turn a/c "on" and i'm just thinking may be its having a hard time turning that compressor??? Thanks in advance

 

it probably is having troubles spinning it my compressor is frozen on mine so lol unless your belt isnt tight
