Default help with brake lights

brake lights are not working STUMPED BAD.

-replaced brake light switch
-replaced the fuse (the one located under the hood, 15mini fuse hazard/brake -switch) ... what is odd is that my hazard lights do not come on either?
-I even replaced the bulbs!!

I'm guessing now the problem is definitely wiring, but are there any other possibilities??

I was also wondering where should I start to check for wiring diagnosis for the brake light switch??

Get yourself a test light and start at the fuse block and follow it all the way. Bear in mind that the power to the brake lights goes up into the steering column and through the signal switch and back out to the lights. Get the kind of test light with a sharp point so you can stab through the wire insulation. Good luck

I had to replace the sockets. Just got some off a junk one and cut and splice away.

I ran a wire straight from the battery to the socket and got the brakes lights to turn on... That rules out the sockets, right?

the problem i had was a wire that was ripped off from the fuse block to the battery, thus giving no power to the brake lights, for me the wire was RED

i just spliced the wire reattached it back to the battery

Back to the battery? I thought the only thing plugged to the battery should be the Positive and Netgative wire.

I just noticed yesterday... when i press on the brake switch to light the brakes I get a small clicking noise under the hood.. Is this normal?

I don't know about any clicking noise coming from the hood. The only clicking noise should be coming from the switch only

Here are two pics I took off my camera today to show what wire I was talking about.

this is the wire that runs from the battery down into the fuse block, i'm not sure if this is normal, but that was what my problem was.

A closer view.

Hope this helps any bud.

Check all the fuses too.
The one under the hood and all the ones under the driver side.
Do your hazard lights not work as well?
