lol i asked how much it would be to swap carriers and regear and got a grand total of about $1600....little outta my price range at the moment....very good point and i did think of it

but back to the project i got the clutch packs greased and in, along with the side gears, but cant for the life of me get the spider gears and thrust washers in....is there a special trick or tool i need?

Rotate the carrier whereas you can get your hands on both sides of it.. where the windows are. You'll need to have one gear in each hand, placing them inside and rotating them evenly as you bring them into position for the cross pin to pass through.

Kinda difficult to explain... but they came out the same way if you remember.

how much do you want for the aussie?

I have 3.07s (in a '99) but I don't think ratio matters...?

Default posi problems

You will have to have some tool press on the clutches towards the side gears to get clearance in the posi unit to put in the spiders. At the trans shop I worked at setting up diffs we made a temp one out of all thread and bolds pushing on the side gears for clearance.
But I would have just got an open carrier and put that in with your aussie and then checked your depth on the ring a pinnion, sometimes I have found that you really dont need to change all the gears to change carriers.
Check the depth of the ring gear with white grease after you install every thing and just see what it comes out, you will be suprised what you might come out with.
Those aussie lockers are good little units, they up there with that trac loc.
