Help, 99 Cherokee blinker problem
I just replaced the flasher unit because the blinkers would stay on or act like hazards.
Now with the new flasher unit installed, they are acting like hazards (3 blinkers on in unison, the only blinker not flashing is the front passanger).
Please help as this is making me nuts.
Thanks,
Bill

Check the front passenger sockets for corrosion, check the wires for cracks shorts and inadvertent grounds. Anything else happen? Any home or mechanic wiring?

I'll try to take a look at the front passanger sockets today. As for any home type wiring, the only thing done to that part of the wiring was done about 7 years ago when I added the tow package. It's worked fine all this time, I've inspected it and it looks fine therefore I don't believe the tow harness is the problem.
Thanks for the reply,

The one not blinking. The front passenger light assembly is where your problem is:
1.) Bad bulb.
2.) Corroded or bad socket.
3.) Broken wire. If it is a broken wire, most likely the ground.

Some improvement
I changed my Blinker fluid but it didn't help.
I did however check out the front passenger lighting assembly and it checked out just fine. I then turned my attention to the directional/hazard control unit on the steering column. I sprayed some eletronic contact cleaner into it and it did help, it's not 100% but it's working properly 50% of the time. I guess it's possible that there is some crud inside that is causing problems or the contacts/brushes are worn out. I guess I'll try spraying some electronic contact cleaner with lubricant into it to see if it improves.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
