HELP! 89 XJ Rear Disc Swap Problems!
So after reading thread after thread, I scored a complete ZJ D35 from a yard with rear discs for $100. Finally got to pulling all the brakes apart on the XJ and went to put on the 98 rear discs.
The holes on the disc carriers don't match...WTF!??
Is there is difference in the bolt pattern between a non c-clip and a c-clip d35? Everything that I found online said they were a direct bolt up swap. I have a 98 ZJ D35 and a 89 XJ D35. I made sure to use the left/right on the correct sides, and the holes are way off.
Was hoping to get this thing ready for memorial weekend but I'm stuck! Do you have to re-drill these??

I am not able to find a direct answer online for any of the write-ups. Most are covering different models than my rear axle setup. I have poured over about 20 threads on this and just need a difinitive answer so I can proceed with this. Also most talk about crown vic or other ford model swaps.
I think what I need is Rubicon bearing retainer plates, and to re-drill the holes on the retainer plate and the disc carrier plates from the 98. Can anyone confirm?
Found the retainer plate PN mopar 5083678 AA
Does anyone have dimensions for the new holes possibly? I think I can make a decent attemt at re-drilling them with the parts I have on hand. I just want to make sure this is what I need to do to finish this up. Thanks!

I'm just gonna bump this for ya to keep it goin. Sometimes it take a little for guys to see a thread. I'm no axle specialist, but I would like to know that answer also.

Thank you for the links but as I said above, I have read all the links that come up through searching this site, NAXJA, and google. Neither of those directly address my swap issues. I know how to do it on a c-clip d35 and a 8.25, but am not able to find anything about a non-c clip rear end.
The holes are too close to be redrilled without being in the exsisting holes. I'm sure it can be made to work but its not worth the hassle.
Anyone want a set complete ZJ rear disc swap?

Are you reffering to the backing plate holes dont line up with the studs on your axle? When i swapped my rear drums to disc i pulled everything off a 97 zj and it went onto my 8.25 the holes needed to be drilled just a hair bigger

Again, that thread covers using 03 liberty discs to a 8.25. I don't have an 8.25 I have a non c-clip d35. The holes on the disc carrier to do not line up so it is not a direct bolt on swap.
As shown in the pic, I thin that shows the bearing retainer plate from a rubicon that has been drilled to fit. At this point it is not worth the hassle to run the discs. I am going to sell the disc swap and just rebuild the drums.
I had read that it would fit straight up so long as it was a d35 rear and this is not true. The only way to make them work is to re-drill the carriers and get Rubicon bearing retainer plates and also have them re-drilled.
