Default Help!!

I had my jeep out wheelin th other day an it started sputterin like it was runnin out of gas but i had just filled it up. I noticed it was over heated an cut it off. Antifreeze was sprayin out of th jug. An now th battery wont hold charge. Wich i think is th altenator. But would that have anything to do with it over heating?

What model and year is this vehicle, and which engine do you have?

Does it still run?

Based on your questions, I think you're in over your head and should take it to a mechanic. This is probably going to be more complicated than anyone can walk you through on a message board.

Two different issues here

The overheating could be 80 different things, same with the electrical. Put a multimeter on the battery terminals and make sure you have at least 13.5-14.2 v at the battery. If yes, than your battery is probably shot, if no than your alternator or wiring is the culprit.

Suggestion: think about taking it in for a diagnosis and either have the shop repair it for you, or fix it yourself after that.

Its an 89 model with th 4.0 in it. I changed th thermostat an that fixed th overheating part. I put a different battery in it an drove it home. Th battery meter on th cluster was readin low with my battery as well as th other battery in it. I put my battery on a charger but as soon as it was hooked up it was readin full charge so i am goin to try replacin th altenator now

coolant spewing out of the overflow is a sign of the coolant boiling. There is a leak/air in the system.

The factory voltmeters are pretty unreliable. Hook a meter to the battery and see what you've got for voltage. Remember, alternators put out peak voltage around 2-2500 rpm so rev her up!
