Someone tell me how to change lower rod bearings in 91 xj? Was told to do this through oil pan? I am pretty decent with a wrench but have never performed this task. Thanks

You can do it this way and there are threads on here that you can read, but bsaically you need to remove the oil pan where you can get to them. I have always removed the motor and the crankshaft and have it inspected and at least polished, and at very min polish it with some very fine emry cloth. any little bur on the crank shaft will destroy the bearings very quick,I would also change all bearings, thrust, rod, and mains. Just my opinion.
