My defrost works and air blows out the passenger foot area through a hole but my vents don't work. I've read this is a vacuum leak? Where along the vacuum line should I look first? Also, the blower motor doesn't blow air until I put the climate control setting on high, and my defrost blows heat even when it is turned off in the summer.. any ideas?

Sounds like more then one problem. Since it only blows on high I guarentee that you need to replace your blower motor resistor. Very simple to do and very cheap at jy. And as for your vacume problem, start with the vacume canistor under the p side front bumper

the blower issues may be the speed selector resistor and the vents issue are the vacuum hoses. They are located behind the rocker swicth panel and are connected to the vent selector switch.

Check for cracks or what? Does it come out to get a better look at it?

Poke your noggin up under there. You'll see what you need to do. Easy. Then trace the vacuum lines connected to the ball up towards the firewall. They're very prone to getting eaten up by battery acid where they pass under/beside the battery.

Pull the line off while running and place your finger over it to check for vacume. Do this at the ball and at the lines end under your dash

Could my door actuators in the hvac box be the problem? Are they maybe shot and won't open the doors for the air to go through the vents?

open your Jeep's glove box and behind that you will see the a/c vacuum plug. verify that you dont have an air leak. the heathet door sometimes dont close all the way. if that is the case you can adjusted.

Is the vacuum ball supposed to have a liquid in it? Mine does.
