Hi everyone
my name is Jeremy!
I just bought a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and am real excited about owning this rig; I need some help though. I want to lift this Jeep and add some 35" tires and a winch!
I do not want a bouncy/bumpy/bottom of the barrel lift, but also do not have $3K to spend either!! Which lift provides the largest bang for the buck and will not compromise the ride quality?
Another thing I have plans on doing is an intake/exhaust set-up to provide more HP and better MPG's - - - Any ideas?
And the winch; not in a real big hurry, but definitely adding it to my "wish list" for a rainy day... Ideas?
Thanks for all of the ideas and future help as well, I know I will be on here asking more questions... lol

i think that if u want to run 35s and still have a good ride you will have to spend more than $3,000. you need more than just the lift to make it ride decent. the lift you will need to clear 35s will require a SYE, new driveshaft, and you'll want to re-gear with that big of a tire size. it all adds up.

Yeah, I guess I have been driving trucks too long because I was just looking at a tire size of 35" as a nice sized tire... My last truck was a Diesel F350 with 37's, so I guess 31's will be fine for a Cherokee
.
Does anyone know what tire size a stock Cherokee will accept without a lift (I mean a larger than stock size)? I have a 1999 Cherokee 4X4. I don't want to buy new tires now because I want to lift it fairly soon, but it does need tires now... I may just look for some decent used tires for now, just to get me by without dropping $600.
Thanks!

Thanks man for the words from experience!! Yeah, I want about a 3" lift for now (+ or - on the lift). I just don't want to buy tires, lift it and then have a goofy "In between" look! You know you've seen that Super Duty with 31" stock tires lifted like 6"s... Just hideous
.
I just don't want to be a common Cherokee on the road, but I would like to be able to run out to the mountain on my way home and go wheeling if I want to
.
While we are on the subject, what should come in a standard lift kit package: Fnt spacers, shocks/springs and rear blocks with an add a leaf and maybe an extended pitman arm? That's about all I know of.
Is there anything else I should look for before buying a lift?

3" lifts usually come with new front coil springs, rear add a leaf or new leaf springs, new ubolts, and usually new shocks all around. some even come with new lower control arms. http://roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html

You can put 235/75/15 on with no problem. I put wrangler rt s on stock and they have been great in all this snow we had here this winter. I also have alittle boost with the coil over shocks I put on in the rear but there is no rubbing lock to lock. I often wonder why 235's weren't stock on these trucks? My door Id sticker says my 93 country came with 215's stock. The 235 look great and provide alittle more ground clearance as well.

I would say try and find a kit with new springs and new leaf packs or an add a leaf. Depending on how your leafs are now if they are sagging bad I would go with a new leaf pack. Depending on what your really going to do I would say try and stay away from blocks that are to big like 1 inch maby. But then again its allon what you reall what to do with it. Look into rough contry or rubicon. Rubicon is a little bit more money but you also get what you pay for but rough contry is still a good company.
