Ok thanks Firestorm. What about the broken bolt in the t-stat housing?

This aint good . Did you disturb the other bolt yet ? This might need a shop to resolve for you ....if not done correctly could be very costly.

I was trying to remove the thermostat housing to get the water pump out and change the tstat while I was at it and it wouldn't. Come loose and finally the bolt broke off the other half is still in the housing so obviously I couldn't forget it off. It's still in there so I left it alone. Go to a shop to have it removed?

I'm still flushing. Flushing out the heater hose too...anything else I need to do with the flush. Something is telling me not to use the flush treatment...

YES...take it to a shop...If the bolt broke off at the head of the bolt, you may get lucky and might be easier to remove...do NOT attempt to do this yourself, even people with lots of experience have trouble removing broken fasteners. Do you have a pic of the offending bolt?

If its does not leak after job finished it should be taken care of asap. It requires drilling and tapping new threads. It is not to be put off for any reason. If it leaks jeep will need to be towed there .

What I said, times 100...basic math, LOL...in all seriousness, do you have a pic? You don't want to screw around with this issue. Get it done ASAP. Some scenarios of trying this yourself include breaking off a drill bit or worse yet, a tap or extractor, in the hole, and you wont be getting those out. You could also crack the head trying to get it out. If you DO get it out, you need to re-tap the threads, and that hole is most likely blind, meaning it won't go all the through to the other side, you need to use a flat bottom tap, and know how deep to go, too deep and it'll bust off inside. At that point you are looking at buying a new cylinder head. Much wompum. Cut your losses now and take it to a pro. I respect the fact you are trying to do things yourself, and learn something as well as save money, but you need to know when to throw in the towel sometimes, too. Good luck.

Take it to a shop, looks like it broke off pretty deep inside. This job is NOT for a beginner, unless you have deep pockets, lots of time, and can do without your ride for a while.

EDIT: Also, be prepared...the shop you take it to will most likely tell you that if they can't get it out, or something happens while trying to get it out, you will be looking at a hefty bill. Fastener extraction can be a crap shoot, and they know it.

I can't find the piece that came out but it was mostly the head of the bolt with about 1to 3mm of metal. I'm bringing it to firestone in the morning but I'm not too worried about it.

What I am worried about is this 14 or 15mm bolt I forgot to put back. I'm trying to figure out where it goes. Any ideas???

Oh my god, are you serious? How the hell are we supposed to know what it is you're talking about? And why Firestone? Those people are notorious crooks.
