Default heater wont blow hot air when it's cold outside

I can go to work in the AM heater will NOT get warm. Not even a little. Drive home in the afternoon and the heater will FRY your hand. In the after noon, I can adjust the temp up and down but Never any heat in the AM

Replacing the t-stat in tomorrow from there ???

Does it get up to operating temp in cold weather? Think you'll find your t-stat is the problem.

gets up to temp just no heat from the heater when it's cold outside. Comming home, heater blow hot air and I can control the temp from the dash fine

Hmm, if the engine is getting up to 200ish degrees you should have heat. If the thermostat was stuck open it would take longer for it to reach operating temp but once reached it should start blowing hot. I would still replace the thermostat.

I had kinda the same issue, when it was cold out my heater would hardly warm up....coming home from work 330PM and boom - hot air.... what i did was i took the heater hoses off the front of the motor and back flushed the heater core. I was surprised at the stuff that came out. I then dumped that cleaner called CLR in and let it soak for about 1hr then back flushed again till water ran clean.

When i back flushed i would fill the heater core the hit it with a little compressed air to push the water through with a little force to help clean out the gunk.

I can now make toast on my dash YUM

repair cost me about $3.99 and a few BL Smoothies...
