I my heater valve is leaking was told I could eliminate this.If so, what are your thoughts ? And can someone direct me to a link or video.

 

We got into a big discussion about this about 3 months ago. Long story short, many advocate removing it as it is troublesome.

O'Reilly's does sell a metal one made by Murray that looks like a nice piece for a Renix with the closed cooling system should someone decide to retain theirs.

Mine was eliminated after breaking on my '87. It was not in my possession at the time, it was 250 miles away. I told the dealer to bypass/eliminate it in order to get it back on the road quickly and cheaply. Heater seems to work better and it doesn't seem to make the A/C run warmer by not being there.

Yep that's the verdict here.

The oem valves are total crap. Spend $15-20 on a replacement that will fail in a few years or eliminate it.

The cost of heater hose is so cheap so I recommend removing your old hoses and running new 5/8 heater hoses from the heater core to the water pump tube & heater core to the thermostat housing.

My a/c and heat don't miss it at all. Plus your heater core is kept flushed. I bought extra lengths of hose so I could run them away from the valvecover. Hot enough under there already. Just don't forget to plug the vacuum line that goes to the valve.

Is there a video on this I am not very mechanical when it comes to this stuff.So unless I have instructions or a video to see it.I won't be able to do it.And of taking the heater valvle off won't coolant leak everyone if I don't drain it ?

 

You should drain the coolant down.

Mikey, you need to stretch a bit here and hone your reading/comprehension skills.

Relying on videos is enabling a handicap.

Look at the valve. Use this coolant flow diagram as a tool to help you with this.

Thanks guys I'll keep reading and learning how to do this.I just noticed my evap is clicking non stop and was told that means I have a leak somewhere I feel like I don't get a break haha

 

Scrap it! Connect the now disconnected hoses with a T-fitting and some worm clamps.
