Default Heater NOT Blowing Hot, and AC NOT Blowing Cold

As I listed in the title, I think I have a problem! I understand that the AC can be related to needing a recharge and the heater to a heater core, BUT it does seem a bit unusual. Has anyone experienced this before?? Any insight to this would be much appreciated! Thanks for reading!

The A/C and heater systems are two different systems.

Check for leaks in the A/C system (most places do this for free during the summer months) and fill as needed with R-134a.

Heater not blowing hot air can be one of a few different things...one of the most common is the heater core being plugged and needing a good backflush, or the thermostat in need of replacement (stays open and does not allow XJ to reach optimal operating temperatures)...Replace with a 195* Stant SuperStat, Failsafe, or OEM.

My a/c doesn't work and my heat is luke-warm at best so I'm right there with you.

I'm figuring you already realize that you are talking about two totally different systems here. No one part is going to fix both. As far as the A/C goes as long as the pump turns and the clutch engages and disengages when you turn the A/C on and off without making any wierd noises, I'd say you are right and it just need the coolant recharged. The heater could be a number of things but since you never mentioned any kind of a leak I would start by seeing if the T-stat is stuck open or if the previous owner removed it. That will cause your heater to not get hot.

or you could have a door/gate not changing/sliding inside your dash and be stuck with one solid temp. im thinking the 2000 still used the cable system and did not have an accuator. so make sure your lnkage did not come loose and is working properly to change the temperatures
