Good afternoon!

I am FREEZING! My 2001 XJ has started a very annoying habit of blowing hot air for about 15 seconds and then it switches to ice cold air. This repeats non-stop as long as we drive.

I have no idea what's going on and need a fix asap.

PLEASE help -- my wife (pregnant) and I are freezing this winter.

Does it seem to be going cold like the HVAC system is switching to AC?

First thing to check is coolant level.

Is it defaulting to defrost or is getting cold and continuing to blow through the same vents?

 

Your blend door motor uses resistance to set the position. Get under the dash and check to see if the motor is moving when this is happening. The circuitry in the motor could be going out resulting in the motor "hunting" for the correct position.
