Default Heater Fan Resistor Module....How Hot?

Love this place...

I just replaced the resistor module for my AC/Heater fan. I tested the fan before completely installing the resistor module, and all fan speeds now work, but the resistors (different depending on which fan setting is used) got red hot. The module appears to be designed for a certain level of high heat- crimped connections, and it has the big ol' heatsink/guard- but THIS much? I wonder if my heater fan is going and drawing too much current? If anyone knows just how hot these things get in normal operation, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Im no expert on this matter but I would say your fan and or some other part is drawing WAY to much! I would make sure you have the appropriate part and double check everything before you catch your rig on fire!

As the blower motors get old/worn they draw more current which could screw up you resistor because the fan speed is regulated by the amount of resistance on them. Try to turn your fan on high, meaning that the blower doesn't have any resistance on it. If the resistor doesn't get hot, you could assume that its your blower motor.
