Heater core temp. bypass?

Heater core temp. bypass?
I should be ok just temporarily routing the hose that goes into the heater control valve on the firewall straight to the intake manifold, right? I'm just skipping the heater core so that I can make the trip to pick up the new one along with a new heater contol valve.
