Default Heater core question

I'm. planning on flushing my 98 XJs heater core and I was wondering if I should let everything cool off before the flush or would it be fine to do at any time? Done several searches on the subject and I started wondering about it and I couldn't find a definite answer. Thanks for all the help.

Just cool enough that you don't get scalded should be fine.

Well then, stick to the "over easy" side and not "cajun" on this one.

While you are here sir..... Do you think that my AC clutch failure could be contributing to my heat issue? My coolant level is fine but my hoses from my core are warm at best..... I'm also going to replace my thermostat while I'm under the Hood. Thoughts sir?

AC clutch unrelated. ONLY use the factory stat from the dealer. Part number is 83501426.

I was wondering cause when my heat went out I noticed my AC clutch wasn't engaging.... I thought at first my efan was shot.... Pulled the harness off my coolant temp sensor and it kicked in so it just got me wondering lol.
Thanks for putting that one to bed for me lol.
I got my last thermostat from AA BTW....
