Heater Control Valve
Hello Everyone,
In changing my valve gasket I broke off the elbow in my heater control valve. Any ideas on how to plug the 5/8 hoses so I can put in a new one without having to hold up the cables cause I only have two hands. Below is a shot of the crack in the middle.

I replaced mine twice in a 6 month period and i never pluged any of the hoses. Just disconnected them, then installed the new heater control valve and reconnected the hoses. Btw do not buy the Vatozone heater control valve, my blew into 100 pieces after just 6 month of use. Go and get the quality Napa parts.

There aren't any screws in this control valve. Its plastic welded together where the cheap ones have the screws and the o ring problem.
When I was removing the old control valve the plastic was turning into sludge. I had to cut off two pieces. Squeeze and crush it and tip it down to push out all the plastic muck. I would suggest that people with an original control valve (where the armature is all metal like in the previous pic) that they consider changing it.

jstantherprsn I suggest you fill in the info on the User CP page so other members know which year XJ you have. HCV is different in different years. Hope you got the info you needed. But help us help you in the future by filling in that data.

Is there somewhere one could purchase the millimeter thick grey hose with the elbow joint or just the elbow joint connecting at the top?
My heater valve is leaking and the grey hose is disconnected with the elbow joint missing.
I'm thinking the junkyard but wanted to check somewhere online first.

I recommend mopar heater control valves, I have seen auto-zone and napa one leak. As far as plugging lines so fluid doesn't come out when you are working on it, you can find bolts that size, or just find some doweloing of that size, or just get a plumbing plastic straight through or three way fitting to connect hoses together so fluid doesn't spill or whatever you need, I can't remember how many lines.
