Heater control
Need a little heater help. I got a 98 and my fan control only works on high. I went to the doner and got another control and it does the same thing. Any ideas.

Passenger side, under the glove box area there's that big black thing. Look for a bolt/screw holding a plastic cover on near the bottom.

its the motor
if you replaced the resistors and the switch then its the blower motor its self that has "gears" as well...

I had a bad motor, it would only work on high, even after I replaced the resistor. I'm assuming the motor fried the resistor right away. A new motor + resistor, and it was good as new.

yea trust me I went thru same thing, well actually mine wouldn't work most of the time but then would on high sometimes low was crazy. put in new switch(mine was melted) didnt fix problem, new resistor, nope, new motor, works great!
if you want to test you can take the motor out bang on it and spray it out with parts cleaner. I even posted a pic in my build thread in sig. It wont last long though.
New blower motor from autozone $27

Heater control switch melted?
I know about the resistor and stuff like that (replaced a couple of years ago). But I think today my switch melted/broke.
I had it on high and when I went to go put it to a lower setting it didn't do anything, so I put it all the way down and it had went off. But it felt as though I wasn't getting any other settings. Hard to describe, it felt as though it was broken.
I have take my bezel off plenty of times. To replace the switch I just unscrew the heating unit and is it something that pops off or is there a tool I will need?
Also after it happened I saw a little bit of smoke come from the console so I just turned it off. I will probably have to go to the JY for a new switch but any advice on this I'd appreciate. Should I worry about the smoke? Or is that just because it melted. I'm hoping I don't have to replace any wiring...
