Default heater coil replacement

ive got a 88 cherokee pioneer which i have water in the passenger side floor board.
This seems cleard when i check it from the floor board.
Could this be anything else besides the heater coil?
If this is the heater coil, is there a manual or video showing me how?

I hope i dont have to drop the whole dash out.
Any help appreciated

It's not called a heater coil, it's called a heater core.

Try searching that term and you'll find what you're looking for.

I had the same problem except mine was not the heater or a\c leaking but the gasket between it and the firewall. I cut a piece a plastic and made a hood for it.....no more leak.

If you have antifreeze in your system, then it will be antifreeze on the floor if the heater core is leaking.

The dash has be be at least partially disassembled on your Jeep to get to it. And the A/C evacuated/recharged if yours is working.

freegdr i know ive had the defrost running alot when i first start it. I seen that tutorial you posted, very imformative.

where is marccrain talking about taking a piece of plastic and making a hood for it?

is the dash still going to have to be taken out, or something underneath loosened up?
Thanks

You still need to determine if it is coolant or just water.

Could be a gasket or weatherstripping leaking.

Put newspaper in the floorboard. If you have a helper, put them in the Jeep.

Run a strong steady stream of water from a water hose with no spray attachment into the air intake opening for the heater on the cowl, forward of the windshield.

If no leaks after about 3 minutes, start at the lower molding of the windshield, taking your time. If still no leaks, move progressively higher.

If you need to, move to the side glass. But these normally don't put a puddle of water in the floor as they drain through the door. However, make sure they are draining.

If you have a roof rack, check it around each screw that holds it on, starting on the right side first. Mine is leaking from this area, which I am going to try to fix today.

Good luck.
