Think maybe factory fog lights is the difference. 1N4003 from Radio Shack should work for diode.

Just a thought I had, has anyone tried to remedy this by bending the pin in the fog light relay? I read somewhere about modifying the relay by bending a pin so that the fogs will stay on with the highs; but I was wondering if anyone has done that mod then upgraded the harness? I'm going to have the same issue in my 99 when I upgrade the harness soon, that's why I ask.

There's a tab on the fog light relay that you can clip off, I'll try to find the link here in a few minutes. It eliminates the back feed problem and allows you to have fogs, normal and bright lights. The only issue is that it doesn't automatically cut off your fogs if you turn the brights on.

That would be a handy and simple fix.

So then in fact it may prevent the issue when upgrading the harness. I hate cutting wires and I'm sure I'm not the only one, this may be the simpler fix for that problem if anyone has tried it please chime in!

The link I have to the write up is dead. It's the same pin that is commonly bent over to prevent fix the feedback issue. Because you don't need the pin, it's easier and probably safer to clip it off.
