hazards go on when i turn on left blinker ? help

hazards go on when i turn on left blinker ? help
hey guys ever since i bought my 98 xj 5 months ago my left blinker has been messed up. my right blinker would work normally and click at a normal pace. my left one though would either go at a normal pace and have the hazards on or would blink at a fast rate with the correct light. but today it wouldnt go fast it will only blink at a normal rate and hazards. i need to know how to fix this lol help please
