Default Hazard Light Switch Problem

Long Story Short... I broke the dang hazard light switch on my 93 XJ (in the "on" position, no less!) I got it turned off, my son has a yellow revolving hazard light in the truck for if/when he needs it.

However - I need to get it fixed soon so that it will pass inspection. I cannot seem to find how to get the seering column cover off without breaking something. I am sure I could jury rig a switch if I can just get to it

Maybe the answer is to re route the wiring and make a new switch on the dash. Anybody ever messed with this?

Any help is much appreciated...

if you cant get it off by removing screws and poping a some clips then im not sure. there is a chance that with a little muscle things will pop but not break? idk, never had to pull the column apart on my xj...
