Has anyone on the internet showed how to jack the front of the XJ?
Can you help me find a thread, blog, or video that shows EXACTLY how to jack up the front?
Not a bunch of descriptions of strange parts I've never heard of, but photos or video.
A picture of where the jack touches the car.
A picture of where the jacstand touches the car.
I don't want to use the frame rails, since this car is 20 years old and rusted.
I am hoping to do the brakes and I took the day off from work.
Please do not reply unless you are posting a link to a jacking tutorial.
Otherwise, please just leave me alone, we all know how superior you are with your mechanic skills.
Have a nice day.

how broke i am i just jacked mine up on the frame. Even better would be jack a side at a time and stick a jackstand under it. as for the rear i always stuck the jack on the pumpkin.
This is the safe way to do it imo. but give me a sec and ill send over a snippet of my owners manual
ok i lied idk where it went... story of my life anyways yes if you lift from the pumpkin make sure to use jackstands as it can be unstable at times. also from what i hear you can put a jack just left of the front axle tube next to the pumpkin but again jackstands.

Bimmer -- anywhere along the front axle tube is safe to put the jack or jack-stands. I'd avoid putting it where stuff connects to the axle, but if you're worried - jack it up under the pumpkin (aka differential) part (it will be lop-sided, but that's fine). Once it's high enough up so the wheels have at least a bit of space under them, put the jack stands under the axle tube.
My Jeep is 23 years old and I put the jack and jack stands under the frame rails all the time. If your frame rails are rusted enough that you can't put a jack under them, then the Jeep is not safe to drive and you should immediately take it to a body/frame shop.

Agreed, if it's that bad get it off of the road before you hurt someone.
I tried to take off 2 lugs, and they did not budge.
I took the Cherokee to the shop and asked them to loosen the lugs.
One of them was stuck and the cap broke off.
The mechanic refused to drill out the lug, and said it took 3 hours last time.
I literally can not complete a single repair on this epic piece of ****.
So, no brake job, and no lug nut. No jacking needed.
I am pretty much done with this Cherokee.
Cherokee has consistently been the biggest nightmare car I have ever owned.
Basically impossible to do even the most basic repair on it.
Never again will I ever buy an American car. Ever.

i dont know if its just bad luck or what, but man you run into some big troubles. Rust seems to be the biggest cause of your issues.
Hmm if you do manage to break them free, Either drilling the stud out or what (had to drill studs and they arent fun) then put on some anti seize to the studs and torque down to 85 pounds to 100 mine i used 90 and havent had issues since and eachtime i rotate and balance mine i ask for them to apply some anti seize to them. You overtighten these lugnuts and basically youre done for because they will strip out into a big mess.
