Default has anyone cut off.....

The lower part of the newer xj's front bumper? It's a worthless piece of plastic that houses the fog lights.

I want to cut the bottom flat section off all the way across but not sure what it will look like. I'm concerned about the edges near the tires. I do care that it looks decent. Anyone do it?

I figured if i cut it off, the bugs that usually splatter on it will be redirected downwards by the skid and splatter on the differential instead and then the mud will just wash them off, saving me some scrubbing time.

Yes, once you do some serious offroading you will realize it only gets in the way of obstacles. Grab your sawzall and don't look back.

Mudd I guess that yours like mine has the vacuum bottle located behind the front bumper but on the passenger side. Make sure you move it and any wires that might be back there for the potential fog lights. The compass and temp sensors are back there too if you have them in the overhead console. Just watch all that stuff & then gofurrit!!!

Mine was missing the center section anyway so I cut the rest off with a cut off wheel looks better I think

I cut mine off a couple weeks ago. I drilled out the three bolts holding it on. it was a piece of cake and took maybe 10 minutes.

I couldn't stop my self once I fired up the sawzall and took it a couple steps further.

xjjeephing- I don't know if I've said this before but, I love the look of your jeep. Very cleanly done.

Thanks for the pictures guys. Xjjeepthing, that's what i wanted to see. I'm keeping the endcaps.

Blue, so that's what that big round bottle was. I was wondering what it was for when i removed the bumper for skid installation. I'll make sure i cut it up when i do cut the bumper

Here ya go pimpin. Course yours will require more trimming since the damper is apart of the bumper. Def will lose if you ever take it off road. Plus it will give you the room for tow hooks or shackles.

I will be getting the backbone bumper system that includes d-ring mounts. I probably have to cut this part off to use it anyways.
