Question Just got a 2000 Cherokee Sport 4X4 but...

I don't know how to operate/engage it. I used to have a Bronco, and had to get out, turn the ***** on the hubs and reverse for 10 feet to engage it, but not sure if/how it works with this vehicle...And I definitely don't wanna burn it up before I get to enjoy it!!

its easy on the cherokee's stop pull the lever into 4hi and go there is no lockout hubs on these. if i remember right to go to 4 lo you need to be in neutral to get it to drop in.

Per Jeep

4-hi
You dont need to stop to engage 4-Hi.
It is actually recommended to be rolling at a speed no greater then 55 MPH for 4-HI. Stopping to do it doesnt hurt anything, you just dont need to.

4-Low
Do not stop. With the vehicle rolling at 2 to 3 mph (3 to 5 km/h), shift an automatic transmission to Neutral or depress the clutch pedal on a manual transmission. While the vehicle is coasting at to 3 mph (3 to 5 km/h), shift the transfer case lever firmly through Neutral and into the Low Range position. Do not exceed 25MPH in 4Low
