has anybody seen this product?
I hate to say this, but pragmatist that I am, I am dubious of the whole magnet/oil filter idea.
I think a magnetic drain plug is plenty good enough to remove any stray particles that might find their way into the crankcase. Think about it now ... if there are enough ferrous metals in you oil that it takes a big magnet to remove 'em, chances are that it's probably already too late for a magnetic oil filter to do your motor much good, right? Main and rod bearings are non-ferrous and wouldn't be attracted ... so what would we be picking up? Chunks of rods, rings, oil pump gears, what? Dunno.
Incidentally, I replaced my oil pan after 250K last month and saw nothing metalic at all ... did find a chunk of the timing chain bumper in there though

Hmm, when it's said like that... this product starts to sound like the whole "put this on your car for 'increased economy'" without mentioning it's only like .01 mpg.
Back in the late 70s, when the first gas crisis was in full swing, people were motivated to do anything to protect and stretch out their fuel costs.
I owned an auto parts store and a product came onto the market then called the Tungsten HydroCatalyst. It was a thick spacer that fit under the carbueretor with a 'tungsten' screen in each throat. The idea was that as engine vacuum through this device siphoned in water from a nearby bottle, the water was then atomized by the screen and some Hydrogen was produced and burned as fuel thus stretchiing the gasoline consumption. Perhaps that's an oversimplification but people BELIEVED the story and bought them by the thousands. So what's the point ...
Just this ... sentiment drives the market .... we are a nation of sheeple

There are usually two magnets in there. Flat and thin but VERY powerfull. Most drives are help together with small Torx screws. Sears has a really nice miniature screwdriver set with 20 bits for about 30 bux. At least thats what I paid a few years ago. I can scrap a drive in about 1 minute now.
