I was thinking of adding a magnet to my oil filter to remove smaller particals from my oil. i found this online for a motorcycle oil filter and was wondering if anyone has seen, heard, used, tasted this product. it seems like a good idea bc our blocks are cast. most oil filters only filter 10-12 micron particals and i think that this would gather the finer particals that filters miss. from the pictures on the website, you put it on one side in theory, 2 would be better than one. im thinking one on each side of the filter. and i wonder if i can use something like this wrapped around the tranny cooler feed lines. you know, the lines that run to the transmission radiator. i wouldnt want to do it after the radiator bc the particals may be caught in the piping. i think im rambiling. oh well deal with it. let me get to an actual question. would 2 be overkill, or do you think one will do it.

i think 77 dollars for the 600lb pulling power is a little steep. but think about all the crap you would get out of your oil. there might be a cheaper way to do this too. if anyone has any ideas feel free to add. and i'm not talking fride magnets...lol

Try Radio Shack or a science supply store.
Or you can just murder a junkyard starter...(I'd say a SBC one with the 168 tooth flywheel ring would be decent. Diesel would be better)

Old computer hard drives.
They usually have 2 humorously powerfull magnets in em. Be careful as they can cause blood blisters if you get skin between them. Any old dead hard drive will work. I must have a ball of HD magnets the size of a grapefruit in the garage stuck to the furnace. Be careful with them and flat surfaces. Some of them are VERY hard to remove and they will scratch the fridge.

Definitely won't hurt... You can use whatever and attach it to the filter side...My trans drain plug is magnetized, and the ones that aren't usually have a donut magnet in the pan... You can find them on damn near every small GM car from the 80's and 90's.

I think there a good thing to have. the two magnets are big they fit around the filter like a beer cozies. I'm a former off road "baja" racer and most of us racers would use them on our race motors. we used everything thing we could to protect our motors $$$. i have never cut an oil filter apart to see but the filter-mag guys were always there at the pits showing how they good worked with sample filters.
"hard drive magnets great idea"
