Default Harmonic Balancer on transfer case installation

I recently purchased a 2000 xj with a 4.0 and an nv231. The rear driveshaft seal on the transfer case leaks, so I was planning on replacing it. However I have a harmonic balancer I need to pull off. I know how to take it off, 3 metric bolts, but I haven't been able to find a thread of people re-installing it afterwards. There tends to be much more talk of the dynamic balancer bolted to the crankshaft. I assume the driveshaft dynamic balancer is semi-rare, seems to be more talk of it on the wrangler forum. Does anyone have an experience with the installation? I don't have another vehicle to drive around, So I'd hate to pull the balancer just to realize I can't put it back on without running to a tool store.

Appreciate any help you guys can offer.

What you need to make the job much easier is a somewhat longer bolt with the same thread as the crank bolt, about 1" longer, and some washers

That way, you can get the HB started and slightly drawn on

I presume you have a generic HB puller/installer tool

Doing it that way, I was able to swap mine out with minimal R&R of other components

I did not remove the front bumper, (or the radiator I think)

It probably would be easier to remove the radiator, maybe I did

I'm talking about the harmonic balancer coming off of the transfer case on the rear crankshaft. But I imagine the installation would be somewhat similar

Pics of this? I've not heard of an XJ with any sort of balancer on the TC output.

My 2001 with the 231 TC had a balancer on the output shaft.
(Steel about 1" thick and about 6" in diameter)
I removed it when I put my hack-n-tap SYE on it though. Threw it away.
Rides smooth as a babies butt.
The only vibration I get is the last 10' feet when coming to a stop.
I attribute this though to the caster angle I'm able to get with 5" of lift and the LP Dana 30.

Honestly seems like the more information that's provided the farther away from making sense we get? I've been checking back on this periodically to see if there's pictures but still no pictures? What gives??

This is what I figured you were talking about - vibration damper. Not a harmonic balancer.

Removing it? A little heat and a large 3 jaw puller should do the trick
