Can a new harmonic balancer be installed without matching it to the engine? I am in the middle of swapping my engine with a junkyard engine and the rubber in the harmonic balancer from the junkyard engine is cracked and split. The harmonic balancer from my old engine is in much better shape, but I see that they both have weight drilled out but in different places.
If I put my old harmonic balancer on my new engine, will I throw off the balance of the whole system? Am I better off installing a brand-new harmonic balancer? Will an auto shop match the weight distribution of my old harmonic balancer to a new one?
Thanks in advance for guidance!
