Is it necessary to replace the key if I'm replacing the harmonic balancer? I'm having a tough time getting the old key out. The new balancer came with a replacement key but if I can just press the new balancer on without replacing the pin, that would be easier. Don't want the other one to pop loose and drop into the timing cover.

Thanks DFlintstone! The one that was in there looked fine, not worn or rounded... it just wouldn't come out. Got the new balancer on, wasn't expecting such a dramatic difference in engine smoothness. Plus, the rubber guts aren't hitting on my fan blades anymore, it was like a baseball card in the spokes.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
