Time for a new one? Rubber seems a bit warn

 

I just replaced mine , got it from oreilly auto parts .

 

Right on. Is mine shot? I've never replaced one before and don't know how how bad is too bad

 

No question about it--yours is shot! Absolutely and without question.

 

If this was an old small block chevy id say run I t . My balancer started walking (moving back and forth) it moved far enough and stayed eating the belt , I replaced it then.

 

Awesome, thanks, guys. Is any damage to the rubber grounds for replacement? For future reference...

 

Not a bad job for the 2.5 where you have plenty of room to play. I haven't done a 4.0 which I assume you have (always post details) but tougher with a lot less room.

Normally I would say that you are not likely to have to replace it again for a long time. But if the rubber pooches out, it's usually time for replacement.

 

Sorry, you're right. Forgot all my details. 87 wagoneer limited, 4.0, 230k miles. In the middle of extensive maintenance, so plenty of room ;-);

 

I did my 4.0 used the instal tool from oreilly it makes it easy . Hardest part for me was removing the skid plate .....lol
