Default Hard to start when hot.

It starts great in the mornings, it starts great on trips to the grocery store. But if I go on any trip that will take it up to operating temperature, and I turn it off for more than two minutes it gives me a hard time to start. After it starts everything is normal. I have no idea, that's why I am here.

I has read that there is a check valve that fails, but I understood that if it was this it wolud be hard to start every time it would sit for a while. But my xj starts great whenever it sits for a while or the engine is cool.

Sounds like it could be vapor lock. Wrap some heat reflective tape around your fuel rails / injectors and see if it helps. Could also be the ignition control module, but I would bet vapor lock first. You can have your ICM tested at autozone I have heard.

I will look in to checking the ICM, I can't seem to think of wrapping the fuel rail yet but thanks for the heads up.

Checked for codes and the only one was the one saying the battery had been removed. So I am out of luck. Any other ideas?

a mechanic told me to wrap the fuel line cause the exhaust, and two converters run just beside them in the engine compartment, and at slow speeds or at long idle intervals, the exhaust heat will also overheat the incoming fuel, and also cause it to idle, and run poor.
