Default hard to explain

when i brake real hard it sounds like my drive shaft is like sliding across sand or something.
its not hurting anything it just doesnt sound natural.
any advice?

hmmm havnt heard that one before...

What have you done, do you have any play in the driveshaft.

are you sure its your ds? and not your brakes making the noise?

i dont know if its the same thing but i had my heat shield come loose and was rubbing on the exaust but it made noise when i was moving not braking sounded kinda like what your decribing

did you crawl under and make shure nothing is touching it?

I seem to be haveing the same problem with my heat shields. It worried me at first but i crawled under and started shaking stuff and found what it was.


mine did it sitting still too.

could be brakes cause i have no play in my drive shaft. sounds like the bottom of my truck is sliding across the road.
but its not.
im getting new brakes in the next couple weeks so we'll see

Pick up the spring packs with it also the brake adjusting screw pack is a must have IMO also.

try just sanding the rotors and pads really lightly with some 100 grit paper and see what that does, if it goes away then you know you need to turn your rotors and replace your pads, but i've never heard of a driveshaft noise like that, but that doesnt mean its not the driveshaft, just never heard of it.

Don't use sand paper use emory cloth.

Pull the front wheels off and start wiggling and looking at things like the brake rotors and brake calipers. You have something coming in to contact with your brake backing plates under braking. That is what is causing your noise.
