Default Hand throttle mod?

Anyone other than gimp (nothing personal) have one of these installed? I can see how it'd be handy driving a 5-spd when wheeling.

I've got one on my 5sp TJ, it's come in handy a few times but most of the time I don't need it

I have heard of people with bicycle shifters mounted to thier trans shifter shaft so they can operate the throttle with thier thumb. You could also use a brake handle for a bicycle if needed something a bit bigger to handle.

My buddy has one on his XJ mounted to the shifter. He uses it all the time when rock crawling.

I built one for a friend a few years ago.

Basically a older style bike shifter set to Friction mode (no clicks) and a shifter cable run to the throttle body.

Worked great. With a Friction style shifter you can set the frictyion to allow for it to hold an RPM or not.

Had one on my old CJ.... But I got away from manual trannies in wheeling Jeeps... Just not enough advantages for the disadvantages. If I lived somewhere where i was wheeling mountains or big rocks all the time, than it would make sense.

I used a clicking bicycle shifter for mine.

I think I might try this. I plan on doing a lot of crawling and being able to use that foot will come in handy.

Edit: I'll post a write-up when I'm done.

Looks like you already got all the feedback you requested, but I'll echo everyone else.

I've had one for about 8 years, and use it often off-road with my 5-speed .

CO is mountains. Thus making it convenient

There's more times I can see having this being handy than not having it be worth it.

Is yours a homebrew? If so, I'd like to see it.

if you are locked, or open, I really don't see the need for it.
i run true trac's which require brake to "lock" up... I wouldn't mind having one...
