I am going to be installing the Putco H4 conversion harness tomorrow and I'm not quite sure what to do with the connector I am pointing to in the picture.
I'm pretty sure I know where everything else is going to be connecting, but this connector seems the odd one out. Is it unused on the XJ? If so, would it be better to just remove it from the harness?

Oh, and another question. I currently do not have Fog Lights, but after I install this harness, it will make it harder to install them later on and have my high beams work correctly, right? I've looked through several threads on here of people installing the harness and then having their high beams stay on if they have fog lights installed as well.

That plug goes into your headlight. The female plug in the picture receives the stock headlight plug. For fog lights if you have stock wiring to them they will turn off when hi beams are on. But you can run your own wiring for the fogs and that won't be an issue

Does this help?
Cruiser’s Headlight Upgrade Harness Instructions
Absolutely plug and play. Remove grille and headlamp bulbs. I fed my harnesses from the passenger side starting between the battery and the back of the headlamp housing, over to the driver side. Plug the driver side bulb into the new harness. Attach the new harness's ground wire under one of the small bolts on the radiator support after scraping the paint off under it. Attach the harness to the existing harness behind the grille working toward the passenger side. . Plug the new harness plug into passenger headlamp. Plug original headlamp plug into receptacle on new harness. Attach the ground for the passenger side just like you did the driver side under a radiator support bolt. Attach relays with provided bracket on the passenger side inner fender. Connect power wires to battery.

Yup. That helps a lot. I read your write up before, but I was mixed up evidently on the terminology. Thanks to both, getting to do the job in the next few minutes. Hopefully my headlights stop sucking.

Totally amazed!

I don't have a before picture unfortunately, but before installing this harness and the autopal + hella bulbs all I was getting out of the sylania halogens was a tiny yellow circle in the center. I feel like I finally have headlights.
Next...some fog lights...(among other upgrades...)

I'm still in love with my upgrade headlights, but a slight problem is starting to show up. Sometimes my headlights will not turn off when I push in the headlight switch. To get them to turn off I have to toggle the highbeams with the switch off. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? It's not a big problem, but it is annoying.

Cool, this is about what I figured the problem was. Thanks for the link to the relay upgrade. Do you wire it up the same way as the original putco relay?
Edit: Doh, the relays just plug into the Putco wires, no rewiring needed.
