So I didn't usually drive at night so much but when I did it sucked. Did harness and h4 headlight upgrade and was pleased until I had it for a while. The beam pattern on low sucks just as bad as original, high beam amazing no complaints. I was thinking it's because of the pilot plastic lensed housings. I would love some help to get this solved now that I drive more often. Is it the housings, the adjustment, bulbs or what? I thought about hid lights but if these ones are bad I think it would just make the pattern worse. Pictures of your housings low beam out put and pattern would be nice too.

I have Autopal E-Code housings with glass lenses. They are great on both low and high beam.

 

+1, buying cheap does not save you anything especially when you have to buy twice. That being said, have you aligned your newly installed headlights? When your headlights are properly aligned you can see where you are going and the drivers in oncoming traffic won't be trying to hit you head-on.

I found a good deal on the hella clear visions back in Oct/Nov. I wonder how much difference between the hellas and the E codes.

 

I've adjusted them 4-5 times seeing if they are badly adjusted. And yes I know I'm gonna tint these ones black and then sell them for what I paid. I only bought them because someone said they were good on here. Very disappointed in them. Any beam pictures of adjusted autopals?

I will say that the lenses break very easy, just go for the hellas. I've spent enough in replacements to buy hellas and I just got another hole in my right side one again.

 

I have IPF housings and I noticed it took a much more precise aiming to see the excellent results. Trial and error for what aiming pattern i preferred is what it took. Now i absolutely love it and would recommend the same to anyone! Google for some specs on how to aim headlights, its worth the effort to do it right.

 

I will probably go the Hellas e code with 55/65 but I also saw a 100/80 bulb. Would it really benefit me enough to go with a Higher wattage bulb.
I also found I could retro fit hid projectors. Could I just use my existing housings and order I think they were morimoti mini retro kit for 120$ and ddm tunings 35w 5000k hid kit.
I want good headlights But would it be worth all the trouble in the end. I understand hid with out projectors tend to scatter light and blind other drivers and gives the cops another reason to pull you over.

when i did my h4 conversion i went with the eautoworks harness, ipf housings and hella 100/80watt xenon blue bulbs. great combo. these housings are pretty durable and give an excellent pattern.

Misc parts and crap 35$ 200$

Hella e codes 130 with 100/80w bulbs... As of right now I'm leaning hid and projectors looking online at the beam comparison makes it a lot easier to decide.

 

No reason to go completely overboard on something as simple as headlights on a Jeep. Get the Autopal housings, H4 harness, and 55/60 bulbs. Using H-4 80/100 bulbs or the bogus HID setup will make your ride a death trap in fog.

Pretty dead set on the hid projector thing. I figured all the stuff I need to do and the costs of it. I'm looking at 230$ for a full set up. And as far as fog goes projectors would probably work just as well.
