Hi all, new 94 XJ owner here. Always wanted a jeep and it runs beautiful, will post pictures later.

4.0L H.O. 2D Sport w/ 3" lift
160K mi
5sp manual

Anyway, one thing im concerned about, which may or may not be an issue. When in neutral the engine revs sounds perfect, but when its pulling at low RPMs or when pulling a trailor, it makes kind of a light gurggling sound until it gets up some RPMs, then goes away. At highway speeds it sounds fine.

Any advice would be appricaited.

Where are you hearing that coming from? Does it do it at all temps or under any other conditions? Does it sound like coolant in your heater core?

I'm not positive where its coming from, but it does it in every gear at low RPM while the engine is pulling only. However, like I said in neutral it doesnt ever do it when i rev the engine.

If I shift at High RPM I can completly bypass the sound.

I guess nots not really like a liquid substance gurggle, its more like a engine noise, or maybe a light trasmission noise, but its constant like a light gurggle.

sorry hope this is more descriptive

Its a manual transmission, its simply "bogging down".... Generally on the 4.0L this will happen if youre trying to drive the car in gear at any rpm lower than like 1000-1200. It will idle at 700rpm in nuetral fine and sound fine, but if you try to put it in gear and operate the engine at that low of an rpm you will be bogging the engine. Nothing to wory about, keep rpms at at least 1500 id say if youre towing.
