Hi all.
I went to start the XJ this morning and it started right up, however, all of the guages stopped working and the key light was on. I have an 01 and assuming the SKIM is the culprit. It runs and drives normally, just no gauges work. It also reads no bus on the odometer. For kicks, I tried the non-skim key and it started up (it shouldnt because it doesnt have the chip in it.)
Suggestions?
FWIW everyonce in a blue moon, the SKIM wouldnt read the key with the chip in it, and I would have to wait a couple minutes and it would start up with the same key.

You could have done a search and came up with a very common reason for you gauge cluster not working. Any way, Like I said it is a common problem. It is usually caused by loose or dirty connections on the back of the gauge cluster. Start by checking and cleaning them and go from there.
Good Luck.
BTW, The search function on here works wonders.
