Going for proactive, 23 yr old harness yeah proactivce.

 

Hell, yeah. Go for it. Those ground splices in the harness gave us fits when they were new. I doubt they've improved with age. We weren't even aware of the issue then. I stumbled upon it one afternoon out in the garage on my wife's 88. I can't even remember what got me to that point.

 

Maybe it was an injector fire..

Trying to keep this thing on the road, wanna hit 500k(only 68k to go), everything I can do helps. Plus try and reuse as much of the OE as possible, gotta whip it all into shape.

 

FAIL my numbers were:
HC
15mph- max 123 mine 310
25mph- max 103 mine 260
CO
15mph- max .73 mine 7.11
25mph- max .93 mine 7.43
NO
15mph- max 711 mine 129
25mph- max 613 mine 59
CO2 measurements were 10% both test.
Looking like cat and O2 sensor, any input?

 

Any update? I'm working smog issue too.

 

Second this. My numbers are really close to OP's.

 

Sorry for the bad news guys but the old cherokee was sold, along with the smog issue still in place. Performed almost all of cruisers tips and some magic of my own, but none the less could not get it to pass at 444,870ish miles.
On the flip side what replaced it hasn't passed smog yet either, some dilly dally in Missouri thought it a good idea to hollow out the cats on a CA emissions vehicle.

 

Highmilage, we at CF bow our heads in a silent moment. Only 445,000 thousand miles and she is gone just like that. Sometimes life just isn't fair! I just picked up a little baby with a tad less than 200K....What oil did you use? Probably that waz it.

 

Penzoil believe it or not regular old Penzoil 30wt. along with some MMO or Hyper lube for the long road trips.

 

Yer tearing me up bro. I to run straight 30w as well. Brown was/is still runnen fine with 280+, but I got rear ended and her **** is a bit puckered up.

Penzoil, (at least the stuff of old), let's say it ranked low for me. Seen valve cover's so full of sludge there was just room for the rockers!

To bad brown is relegated to "other duties". We won't find out if the Castriol 30w did better there than your Penziol did for you.

I may buy the old girl back by the end of summer, I was in that neighborhood earlier today and she has about 8mo worth of dust collecting and cobwebs hanging from the bumper.
I can not stand to see good cars go to waste, my boss has a 75 Mercedes 300D that was driven into the back 40 of our service yard 2yrs ago and there it still sits. Nothing wrong with it A/C even works...........
