Um...don't forget longer bolts. And use grade 8 or equivalent.

[QUOTE=wifin;2223357]I got a 2000 XJ, I will consider getting the transfer case drop. Any recommendations to a company?

The noises don't happen so much until i reach about 40mph[/QUOT

same with mine, it was at a very specific speed maybe 30-45 mph. I made my own out of grade 8 bolts and some large nuts/washers as spacers. it cost about 8 bucks if i remember correctly.

my transfer case drop turned out to be a real pain. depending on what year xj you have there will be 2 studs and 2 bolts. both studs in mine broke. what i ended up doing was cut a hole in my already rusted out floors to get into the frame rail, then drop the bolts down from the top. this only worked on the front 2 studs. on the bolts i was able just to pull the old ones out and put longer ones in.

in my case a drop kit wouldnt have worked very well because i had to improvise. i would make sure to start this project on your day off so if things get ugly you have a bit of time to get things back together.

i needed it on my 2000 with only 3.5 inches of lift. my uncle has a 2000 he did 3.5" and was fine. another buddy with a '98 did a 3 inch lift and was fine. so in my experience you have a 1 in 3 of needing it.
