Clutch stopped working,clutch fluid full not leaking,went home let it cool down,then went out and tried to drive it 96 xj,clutch worked better but not all there.started pushing clutch in fast while motor wasn't running heard a pop sound come from somewhere maybe under hood.now while running when clutch pushed in more than 3/4 I get a grinding sound coming from bell housing area.will drive and shift even with this problem I don't push it 3/4 way any help will be appreciated

Sounds like you may need a new clutch. I had my Chevy P/U do the same thing and I found chunks of the clutch had broken off.

might have clutch finger worn or the tension springs on plate going south. did that on my dodge pickup and finially just quit working. center of clutch plate fell apart.
