Grand power seats in an XJ?
Looking to upgrade my recently bought "92 Laredo XJ. Does anyone know if Grand Cherokee power seats will drop in place, and if so, what years? Thanks.

Seat Failure
Weak link: Front seats
Models affected: All
What happens: XJ front seats use a stamped metal framework that is spot-welded together. Occasionally these spot welds will break. The result is that the seat will often lean rearward and crooked.
Strong fix: One option is to hit the salvage yard and procure a pair of seats from a comparable XJ. Dan McKeag at Burnsville Off Road says that a better option is to install a pair of seats from a '99-'04 Grand Cherokee. These seats are way more comfortable because they are contoured and of better quality overall. They will bolt directly to the XJ seat tracks.

hope this helps.

What year XJ will these bolt directly into? The seats mounts changed in either 93 or 94. The seat mounts for a 92 will not mount in a 94 and vice versa. You can not put 92 seats on 94 mounts either, the bolt patterns are different.

Both. The earlier XJs and a ridge on the floor that the mount bolted to, the later (and I'm not sure if it was 93 or 94) the floor is flat. My brother was going to use the leather seats from his 89 parts Jeep in his 95. That is where we noticed the floor difference. The he tried to mount the 89 seats on the 95 mounts and the bolt pattern is different.
I looked at different year models at the jy to find out what year it changed but there was no 93 on the lot to inspect.

And would it need to be from a 2000 model year?
*edit*
I'm seeing now, that the KJ is the Jeep Liberty? Any specific years it would need to be from?

94 to 98 ZJ Grand Cherokee seats are bolt in on 97 to 01 XJ Cherokees.

Old fart with a wrench
If this helps at all, I used 96 XJ seat cushions on my 2000 WJ tracks. 4 studs underneath, bolt pattern the same. If you are wondering why I did that, the bucket shape seats were pinching the nerves in my hip.
