Default Got Pics of Evap System parts? (P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak) ?
I did some searching, and ordered a new Stant gas cap.
But, if that's not it, I will get a smoke test done.

In the meantime, it would be nice to learn about this system.

Does anyone have photos of the following components?
Or know where to look to find them?
  • Charcoal canister
  • Leak detection pump
  • Purgevalve
  • vacuum solenoid
  • Elbows?
  • Vacuum hoses?

Thanks, Sherlock, but where are they?

I read 25 or so Jeep threads on this code,
and not a single one had an actual photo of where the stuff is located.

I'll try again:
  1. Where is the Charcoal canister located? Does anyone have a photo?
  2. Where is the Leak detection pump located? Does anyone have a photo?
  3. Where is the Purgevalve located? Does anyone have a photo?
  4. Where is the vacuum solenoid located? Does anyone have a photo?

The links I've provided show the location of every part in your list with the exception of random elbows and vac hoses.

I can see where Bimmer would get confused looking at all those Google images, 98% of which don't even pertain to a Jeep.

Bimmer, pull out your copy of the FSM for your XJ. Many of the components are shown in there, and how they function.

Just an update to this thread for posterity.
This code went away after replacing the gas cap with an $8 Stant.

I can't believe the gas cap was only 8 dollars. I thought surely it was going to be in the hundreds.
